Playful, inquisitive, and full of character, the P\u012bwakawaka (Fantail)<\/strong> is one of Aotearoa\u2019s most beloved native birds. Known for its fluttering movements and friendly presence, the Fantail is often seen darting through the forest, weaving effortlessly between light and shadow.<\/p>\n

This artwork is crafted from solid New Zealand Rimu<\/strong>, salvaged from a central Christchurch building damaged and later demolished following the February 2011 earthquake<\/strong>. Previously used as display shelving, the timber has been carefully selected for its pristine condition\u2014free from nail holes, laminates, glue joins, or composite construction<\/strong>. Each piece is cut from a single solid section of Rimu, allowing the natural grain to remain uninterrupted and authentic.<\/p>\n

The P\u012bwakawaka is laser-engraved with fine, energetic linework, capturing the movement and personality the bird is known for. Framed by native foliage, the design balances detail and negative space to create a warm, engaging statement wall art piece<\/strong>\u2014light in feel, yet rich in story and craftsmanship.<\/p>\n
